One of the "must see" areas at Oshkosh is the EAA Air Museum. They
have a huge building full of all things aviation related:
Wright Bros. Flyer:
Christian Eagles hanging from the ceiling:
An original P-51 Mustang, Serial number 4 off the Northrup Grumman production
line. What a collector's dream:
Back at the airshow, a huge Erikson Crane helicopter scoops up thousands
of gallons of water out of Lake Michigan and dumps it over the runway,
demonstrating it's fire fighting capabilities:
The perfect combination for traveling the country. An LSA high wing airplane
with closed trailer and an RV. This is a dream of mine to someday have.
Travel the country, stay where you like, take out your airplane and see it
from the air. Perfect:
Here is another solution for travelling by air but still having transportation
when you arrive at your destination. A motorcycle in a belly pod attached
to the bottom of your airplane. Cool
idea:
One day we ate at the Ace's Cafeteria - pretty good food. Here is our
self-portrait:
In the background you can see one of the shuttle service vehicles. John
Deere tractors pulling people carriers around the grounds.
At night we visited the outdoor movie theater, bringing back memories of
the drive-in theaters of our youth. They supply free popcorn with the
movie. just bring a lawn chair and enjoy a different aviation related
movie every night. This night it was Harrison Ford and Anne Heche starring
in Six Days and Seven Nights. There to introduce the movie was Harrison
Ford himself, in person:
Keith Vasey, the Sales Manager for Avipro Bearhawk built an exceptional RV-8
and brought it to Oshkosh. Beautiful
airplane:
Keith is currently building a Bearhawk. I can't wait to see it - I'll
bet it will be an award winner.
